The next time you cross North Nevada Avenue, take a moment to look down the length of the traffic islands.   We all admire and appreciate the huge historic trees, but have you ever noticed that the trees line the outer border, leaving a clear line in the middle of the traffic island?

Here’s the fun part.   This open strip in the middle of the street was for the street cars!  The tracks ran up Tejon for the most part, but then ran around Colorado College on North Nevada Avenue.

The tracks have been gone for decades but it’s fun to find a piece of their history hidden right in front of us!   This is the easiest location to explore on this website.

Tracks also ran miles out of town diagonally through the pastures to the Austin Bluffs area, but that’s an article for the future. 🙂
